Branch Accountant

Leggett & Platt Inc., an S&P 500 company, is seeking a Branch Accountant for our facility in Kendalville, IN. This is an ideal opportunity for a self-motivated individual to make a difference in a forward-moving, highly diversified company. 



  • Coordinate the monthly financial close. Functions include inventory valuation, inventory-in-transit reports, posting inventory, re-class journal entries, review freight coding, P&L, and general ledgers.

  • Ensure all accounting functions are in compliance with company policies and GAAP.

  • Prepare and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy and completeness.

  • Maintain the standard cost system, financial scrap reports, and branch reporting.

  • Maintain control over fixed assets and Capital Expenditure processing.

  • Responsible for Daily Inventory Cycle Count and management of Perpetual and Physical Inventory(s).

  • Support SOX Compliance and Audit Branch Procedures.

  • Oversee Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Inventory Control functions.

  • Assist with implementation of new programs and initiatives with branch and upper level management.



  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

  • Experience in accounting in a manufacturing environment.

  • Understanding of GAAP, MRP II, and Sales and Operations Planning.

  • The ability to organize multiple priorities, tasks, and deadlines effectively.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Experience in Excel, Word and Microsoft PowerPoint.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
